Altered Egos is an ongoing series of digital collages made from blending a photo of the artist’s face with that of another gay man. The resultant images fuse the traits of both faces, creating a third identity that is simultaneously both people and neither. These identities become altered egos of the artist.

With the rise of social media and facial recognition software, the significance of our faces and the desire to identify ourselves with them is continually reinforced. By comparing these collages, points of difference and of similarity emerge. It is no coincidence that the subjects chosen are unified in their gender and sexual orientation, as these works ask us to reflect on how our identities, like our faces, are constructed.
