Waterloo is a development of seven dwellings on a corner site with significant exposure and minimal setbacks to both street frontages. The brief for this project was to maximize the yield of three-bedroom dwellings within the envelope of a previously approved apartment scheme.

The development comprises an unusual hybrid of townhouses and walk-up apartments. By consolidating car parking within car stackers at the centre of the site, the area required for parking has been minimized thereby allowing for greater landscaped area.

The design combines symmetry and asymmetry to create interest on all facades. The material palette uses visually distinct materials including a blend of bricks with two surface finishes, charred timber and metal cladding. The use of light and dark contrasting materials on the facades extends internally, reinforcing a sense of cohesion within the design.
