Kaveneys is a new house at a dramatic hilltop site in rural New South Wales. The house prioritizes environmental sustainability through consideration of construction methods and materials, energy consumption and longevity. The house has been designed as a series of pavilions, to allow for potential expansion. The site arrangement also provides for a variety of sheltered outdoor spaces, to counteract the exposure of the site.

The design employs a palette of materials including rendered straw bale walls, Corten and mild steel cladding, dry stone retaining walls and recycled brick paving. These materials have been chosen to provide a sense of solidity to the house, whilst complementing the existing colours and textures of the site.
